Portabletechnology.co.uk is one of the largest UK Internet sellers of electronic handheld learning products and laptop storage & charging trolleys. Founded in 2002, Portabletechnology.co.uk is based in Brownhills, West Midlands, home of the 30ft tall ‘Stainless Steel’ Brownhills Miner (known locally as ‘Morris’ after the Morris Minor motor car . The Brownhills Miner commemorates the miners who worked in the town across the three centuries before the last Brownhills pit closed).
Our business philosophy is based on innovation and service excellence: we always try to offer the most innovative products at competitive prices with fast and efficient delivery service and unlike our competitors we welcome the opportunity to talk to our customers on the telephone without a ‘computerised messaging system’.
Products
We offer Franklin and Seiko handheld learning products, AlphaSmart portable computers, Renaissance Learning voting systems, PTS Laptop storage and charging trolleys as well as a growing range of accessory products.
Most of the laptop storage and charging trolleys we sell are made at our factory unit in Wolverhampton.
Service
We aim to give excellent customer service and consequently always treat our customers exactly as we would like to be treated ourselves. We are also a member of BESA the British Educational Suppliers Association and adhere to their strict code of practice. Consequently you can purchase products safe in the knowledge that you are dealing with a reputable company providing the very best in UK equipment and service. |
| Environmental Policy
1. Excessive packaging is avoided wherever possible.
2. No CFC solvents are used in the production of computers or equipment according to the advice we have been given from manufacturers and suppliers.
3. Circuit boards and obsolete or broken computer parts are safely disposed of, in accordance with governmental legislation, through an approved diposal contractor namely Walsall MBC.
4. Faulty Nickel Cadium batteries, in accordance with governmental legislation, are disposed of through an authorised disposal contractor namely our approved battery supplier ESP.
5. All other obsolete equipment is usually sold at heavily disounted prices, used for spare parts or donated to schools.
6. All other waste products are disposed of in an environmentally safe way.
7. We have a commitment to recycle waste products whenever it is possible.
8. Energy consumption for electronic equipment is detailed in the product specifications.
9. We only use printer paper which is made from pulp derived from sustainable managed forests.
10. We recyle most of our waste paper as shredded packing material.
11. We recyle received cardboard boxes to send our goods out in.
12. We also try to minimise paper consumption in our daily work practices.
13. Whenever possible, we try to use consumables that do not damage or pollute the environment.
14. We try to limit our power consumption by good management practices. |

Delivery Rates & General Delivery Information
We try to keep our delivery charges to the minimum and charge mainly by weight except for some bulky items.
Please Note: Product weights quoted are often without manufacturers packaging.

Delivery Times
For most UK product orders we will usually deliver within 1-4 working days. The exception being if we need to load software or the item is temporarily out of stock. We will then normally send your order to you as soon as possible. Small items are usually sent out by Second Class Royal Mail Recorded Delivery, by Special Next Working Day Delivery or by Saturday Special Next Day Delivery, bigger items are sent out by Next Working Day Courier Delivery.
Due to the weight of Laptop charging trolleys delivery is subject to the availability of specialist transport facilities and can be 1-3 weeks from receipt of official order. Delivery costs are from £30 to £55 for each trolley. Phone foe bulk delivery cost.
UK Standard 1-4 working days Delivery Service
All shipping charges quoted are for delivery to the UK - though we reserve the right to charge extra for shipping of bulky items to more remote parts of the UK.
Urgent UK Orders
For on-line ordering there is an extra option for next working day delivery providing the order is received by 3pm of the preceding working day (Our work days are Mon-Friday excluding bank holidays). | Product Returns
Products may be only returned to Portable Technology Solutions after due authorisation by ourselves, see instructions below and also consult our terms and conditions. Reasons for returning may include faulty products, damage during transit or warranty repairs. For online orders the buyer has the right to withdraw from the purchase of an item within seven working days of the day after the date the item is delivered. Please contact Portable Technology Solutions to enquire if your product is still under warranty and to receive a Return Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA) on 01543 372165 or email support@portabletechnology.co.uk. All warranty returns returned to Portable Technology Solutions require a RMA number.
Branded Products Warranty Repairs:
Some branded products such as AlphaSmart, Toshiba, Canon & Epson have repair centres who deal exclusively with their own repairs, please consult your included product information and contact the appropriate product manufacturer or service centre.
All Other Product Returns to Portable Technology Solutions:
The product must be shipped freight prepaid to Portable Technology Solutions for all warranty service. Please contact Portable Technology Solutions to enquire if your product is still under warranty and to receive a Return Merchandise Authorization Number (RMA) on 01543 372165 or email support@portabletechnology.co.uk. All warranty returns returned to Portable Technology Solutions require a RMA number.

| Warranty
Standard Warranty
Portable Technology Solutions offers a limited warranty on all products: 1 year for Portable Technology Solutions branded products from date of purchase and 1 year on all other branded products and accessories unless stated otherwise. The Portable Technology Solutions warranty does not affect customer's statutory rights. If a product fails during normal and proper use within the warranty period, Portable Technology Solutions will, at its option, repair or replace the unit. The limited warranty does not include service to repair damage from accident, disaster, misuse, abuse or non-Portable Technology Solutions modification to the product. Batteries and other consumable products (e.g. ink cartridges) are not covered under the terms of this warranty.
Extended Product Warranty
Portable Technology Solutions offers an extended warranty for an agreed period stated on certain products such as computers and printers. The Portable Technology Solutions extended warranty does not affect customer's statutory rights. This is in addition to the existing product warranties that run from date of product purchase. Portable Technology Solutions Ltd. warranties that if a product fails during normal and proper use within the extended warranty period, Portable Technology Solutions will, at its option, repair or replace the unit. The extended warranty does not include service to repair damage from accident, disaster, misuse, abuse or non-Portable Technology Solutions modification to the product. Batteries and consumables are not covered under the terms of this warranty.
Repair Warranty
Portable Technology Solutions offers a repair warranty of 3 months, from the customer receipt of a repaired product, which guarantees the effectiveness of the repair and any new parts installed in the product. The Portable Technology Solutions repair warranty does not affect customer's statutory rights. The 3 months repair warranty does not cover any additional faults that may occur with the product unless it can be proved to the satisfaction of Portable Technology Solutions that the repair has caused a new fault to occur. Portable Technology Solutions Ltd. warranties that if a product repair fails during normal and proper use within the repair warranty period, Portable Technology Solutions will, at its option, repair or replace the unit. The repair warranty does not include service to repair damage from accident, disaster, misuse, abuse or non-Portable Technology Solutions modification to the product. Batteries and consumables are not covered under the terms of this warranty.
